Web Survey Bibliography
The Law Society is concerned that the current £25,000 cap for a breach of contract claim in the Employment Tribunal is too low, particularly for higher earners. The Society believes there should be no cap and that Employment Tribunals should continue their evolution to become proper employment counts with extended jurisdiction. The Society believes that Employment Tribunals should be required, where possible, to provide written judgements on the day of the Tribunal Hearing, particularly in cases where the only claims have been in respect of monetary awards. The purpose of the web survey was to identify whether the profession supported the Law Society’s views on the cap and the necessity for written judgements on the day of Hearings. The results of this survey and the forthcoming consultation will be incorporated into the Society’s representation to the Department of Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform and to the President of the Employment Tribunals. The findings of this web survey are not representative of employment solicitors or those involved in the Tribunals system and should be treated as indicative only.
